About Me

Alexandra Alston is an African American independent filmmaker based in New York City whose work centers on intimate, character-driven stories about relationships within families and communities. With a Master's of Fine Arts from the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, she has written and directed four short films while also collaborating as a producer and writer on a range of projects.
Her films focus on underrepresented voices and explore the emotional complexities that shape how people connect, communicate, and navigate moments of change. Her most recent short film Spinning Memories was selected for the Maryland Film Festival and the 42nd Boston Film Festival.
Currently, she is developing her first feature film of the same title, expanding on these ideas through a story about personal loss and its impact on identity and familial relationships.
